Berkshire Hathaway Letters to Shareholders – 2017 Summer Reading Challenge

It’s deeply embarrassing to admit; I have not read any of Warren Buffett letters to shareholders from the Berkshire Hathaway era. These letters are often praised as the motherload of investing wisdom and considered mandatory reading for anyone who call themselves a value investor. Therefore, when this years summer vacation is about to begin I made the decision to change the embarrassing situation and read all of them!

I invite you to join me in the Berkshire Hathaway Letters to Shareholders – 2017 Summer Reading Challenge as I would like to share both the experience and insights from the letters with you. The challenge is to read one shareholder letter per day for the next 40 days (17 July 2017 – 25 August 2017). The most extensive letters are 20-25 pages long why I think there should be no problem for anyone to have both the time and ability to cope with the challenge. All 40 letters (1977-2016) can be found at the Berkshire Hathaway homepage free of charge.

If you are already swamped with other things to read, are short on time in general or have already read the letters I still want to include you in this challenge. For the next 40 days I will therefore share the five most unique and insightful, in my opinion, extracts from each letter here on the blog in separate posts. These posts will be include in the Worldly Wisdom Project why I also hope that the commentary section will become an arena for discussion and for you to share what has caught your eye while reading.
